bisdGet ready students — it’s that time of year again. The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, or TAKS tests, will be held Tuesday, April 26th through Friday, April 29th for many area schools. The TAKS are a state-wide, cumulative examination of students’ knowledge and skills in core academic areas, such as reading, language arts, math, science and social studies.

As far as Brownwood’s scores are currently concerned, “all BISD campuses and the district are Recognized or Exemplary,” said Liesa Land, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for BISD. “Our staff and our students have worked hard and we are very confident the scores will reflect their hard work.”

Students are encouraged to prepare for the tests by getting plenty of sleep every night and eating nutritious meals, particularly breakfast, to help them focus on the coming tasks at hand. Below is a schedule of the tests for this coming week for BISD:

*Tuesday, April 26th:

LAT (Linguistically Accommodated Testing) Reading – Grades 3, 4, 6, 7

LAT ELA (English Language Arts) – Grade 10

Math – Grades 3, 4, 6, 7, 10,

ELA Retest – Exit Level (Grade 11 and Retesters)

*Wednesday, April 27th:

Reading – Grades 3, 4, 6, 7

Math – Exit Level

*Thursday, April 28th:

Science – Grades 5, 8, 10, Exit Level

Math – Grade 9

*Friday, April 29th:

Social Studies – Grades 8, 10, Exit Level

LAT Science – Grade 5, 8, 10
