Area Fire Departments Assist with Fires in Neighboring Counties

FiremanSmokeArea fire departments, both professional and volunteer, are assisting neighboring counties of Comanche and Eastland with fires that are fast moving.  No estimates of the size of these fires have been given.

Lake Bridge Volunteer Fire Department and Brownwood Fire Department were the first ones to be called shortly before 2pm Friday, when Eastland County needed them to assist with a fast moving fire near Cisco at Hwy 6 and Eastland CR 104.

Another call came shortly after requesting assistance at Gorman where another big grass fire had broken out.    BFD was already going to Cisco however, the Bangs VFD sent their crews to assist as well as May and the Lake Dam VFD.

BFD was also called to assist with a large grass fire at the area of Comanche CR 173 and FM 1689 in Sidney.

High winds and the dry terrain are making the fires difficult to contain and at 3:08pm, the call rang out requesting a brush truck from the Zephyr Fire Department.

Cooperation between departments across the county, region and statewide has been efficient and swift in the past few weeks.  Pray for these firefighters during this time as they are pushed to fight long hard hours to protect residents, livestock and property around the state.

Community leaders this past week have asked the citizens of Brownwood to pray for rain, marking Sunday, April 17th as a Day of Prayer for Rain at the recent Brownwood City Council Meeting.  Currently the first slight chance of rain is forecast for Monday of next week.
