Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Wednesday, March 16, 2011.

Monday, March 14

*3:11pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of Main Street to a local liquor store, regarding counterfeiting.  According to the report, the complainant stated that his bank notified him that a fake bill was included in his deposit.  As the complainant was reporting the counterfeit bill to a BPD officer, a man walked into the business and the complainant identified him as the person who had passed the fake bill the report states. When questioned about the bill, the man stated that he had obtained the bill from a local check cashing business.  He claimed that he saw an elderly woman pay her electric bill with it, that he was next in line, and eventually received the bill when he cashed a check the report states.  The man said that he was unaware that the bill was counterfeit.  The complainant also believed the bill to be authentic because his counterfeit detecting pen did not indicate any problem with the bill the report states.  The counterfeit bill was collected from the bank and placed into BPD evidence.  The investigation is ongoing.

Tuesday, March 15

*12:48am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Vincent regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated to officers that an unknown subject had made entry through a window and stole 25 DVDs.  The complainant wished to pursue charges if a suspect could be identified.

*10:38am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2300 block of 4th Street regarding an assault.  According to the report, the officer met with the reporting party who was located in his car which was parked directly in front of the victim’s home.  The officer also spoke with the victim who was inside the residence.  Upon investigation it was found that no offense had occurred on the part of the victim; however a trespass warning was issued to the reporting party for the victim’s residence.

*11:51am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a noise complaint in the 1000 block of Cordell.  According to the report, this call led to the discovery of narcotics paraphernalia and a clear bag which contained a substance believed to be marijuana.  The owner of the apartment, while standing in a smoke-filled room, said he smokes marijuana when he can afford it the report states.  The man told police that with some of his income tax money he purchased an Xbox360 and a bag of marijuana.

*2:19pm-Brownwood Police responded to a report of theft in the 1600 block of Avenue K.  According to the report, the complainant advised that a weed-eater and lawn mower had been stolen between the hours of 12:00pm-2:00pm.  The complainant provided identifying numbers on the items but did not have suspect information at this time.

*5:29pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Avenue E regarding a vehicle that had been damaged on March 13th.  According to the report, the complainant identified the suspect; however, no arrest had been made at the time of the report.  Damage was estimated to be $200.  The investigation is ongoing.

*5:42pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 600 block of W. Commerce regarding fraud.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a female came into the store posing as a Coinstar representative and had the clerk run four items on the Coinstar machine.  The manager did wish to pursue criminal charges against if the suspect is identified.

*8:02pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 1800 block of 10th Street.  Upon arrival, the officer observed that the driver exhibited signs of intoxication the report states.  Due to injuries, the driver was taken to BRMC according to police.  Officers obtained a warrant for a blood sample from the driver.  A report was filed and criminal charges are pending against the driver.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 33-year-old Roel Mancias, Jr. for Violation of a Protective Order.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
