William Thomas Gober

GoberWilliamThomasFuneral services for William Thomas Gober, 80, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 PM on Monday, March 7, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lynn Turnbow officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Creek Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, March 6th at the funeral home.

Mr. Gober passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011, in Brownwood, at a local nursing facility.

William Thomas Gober was born on February 12, 1931, in Coleman Texas, a son of Fay Gober and Dora Dowdy Gober. He was raised in the area and was of the Baptist faith. William had never met a stranger and everyone that knew him, never saw him without a great big smile on his face. He loved to collect watches, take them apart and then try to put them back together again.

He is survived by his brothers, Billy Gober of Bastrop, Tommy Gober and wife Kathy of Gatesville, and Jimmy Boren and wife Dorothy of Missouri; sisters, Ruby Thames of Abilene, Mary Steffey and husband Richard, of Coleman, Wanda Gober of Richardson and Bertie Hathcock of Early.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fay Gober and Dora Gober Wilkins, two sisters, Treva Richardson and Linda Bamber and one brother, Cecil Gober.
