Donald Edward Jackson

jackson_donDonald Edward Jackson was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 20, 2011 at the age of 77. Don was born on April 12, 1933 in Lubbock, Texas to Marshall E. and Bessie (Judd) Jackson. He grew up in Lubbock and married Shirley Robinson in 1952. After serving in the Navy, Don continued his career in retail sales working for JC Penney and later as a shoe store owner. He touched many lives and was truly loved by family and friends. Don is remembered for his faith in God, love of family, and sense of humor.

Don is survived by cherished wife, Shirley Jackson of McKinney, Texas; brother Gary Jackson and his wife, Carol of Lawton, Oklahoma; sister, Lucy Eade and her husband Raymond of Lubbock; sons Rick Jackson of Amarillo, Texas, Mark Jackson and his wife Shawnea’ of McKinney, Drew Jackson of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Kendra Jackson of Lubbock, Hayden Jackson of Redmond, Washington and Hunter Jackson of McKinney.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday February 28, 2011 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX 75211 with the Rev. Billy Hobbs officiating. The family will receive friends at Christ Fellowship Church on Sunday, February 27, 2011 5:00-7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Don’s memory to the Fisher House Foundation which provides a “home away from home” for military families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. http://www.fisherhouse.org
