Corporal Tevan Nguyen

TEVAN1Funeral Services with full military honors for Corporal Tevan Nguyen, age 21, of California, formerly of  Hutto, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 6, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Serafin Avenido officiating, interment to follow in Indian Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home.  A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Corporal Nguyen was killed during combat operations Tuesday December 28, 2010 in Afghanistan.

Tevan was born on June 20, 1989 in Hutto, Texas to Tam Van Nguyen and Amy (Salazar) Nguyen. He attended and graduated from Hutto High School and went on to join the United States Marine Corp. where he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Pendleton, California before deploying to Afganistan.

Tevan is survived by his parents, Tam and Amy Nguyen of Hutto, Tx; a sister, Tamara Nguyen; Monique Sterns; infant son, Tevan Lee Nguyen Jr.; grandfather, C.R. Salazar of Brownwood; grandparents BA and UT Nguyen of South Vietnam; aunts and uncles, DN Nguyen and wife ; BINH Nguyen and wife; Tuna Nguyen and wife, and Lee Nguyen and husband all of Phuonghhanhnhatthanhtho, South Vietnam, Stella and Frank Lopez of Austin, Jessie and Racheal Vasquez of Brownwood, Cecil and Marlyn Salazar of Brownwood, Amparo Garcia of Brownwood,  Richard and Gina Valadez of Brownwood, Guy and Francis Diaz of Bangs, Lorenzo Diaz of Ft. Collins Co.; along with numerous cousins from Austin, Brownwood, and the Country of Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucia Salazar of Brownwood, and aunt, Mrs. Diaz of Waco.

Tevan’s wish was to go and help people.  He was full of courage, love, and kindness and was a treasure to all that knew him, he will be deeply missed.
