Pecan Valley Kiwanis Club Member Roy Parrack (right), recently “rang the bell” for the Salvation Army at Heartland Mall in Early.  Roy got to share this experience with his god-daughter from Bogota, Colombia, Yuli Johanna Buitrago.

“This is something that Yuli has never experienced from her country.  She was amazed at the ‘giving’ attitude and the pleasantness of everyone.  She really enjoyed this day, and I enjoyed sharing that experience with her,” said Parrack.  “Even though Yuli speaks very little English, we did not have a problem the day we manned the Salvation Army pot.”

Yuli simply used the universal language; a smile.  Most of the people that gave to the Salvation Army that day did not know that Yuli did not speak English.  They gave with their hearts,” said Parrack.  Yuli is spending a month in the home of Roy and Charlotte Parrack.  Roy and Charlotte are involved with Orphan Hope International.
