A telephone pole was severed in half around noon on Tuesday when a service van collided with an ambulance near the hospital.

Although it was broken in half, part of the pole appeared as if it were a cross still connected to multiple utility wires.

The accident happened around noon along the area of Crockett Drive by the Health & Human Services Commission building in Brownwood.

A Brownwood Police officer on scene reported the vehicles hit the pole hard enough to sever it and damage the vehicles, but that no one was injured.   A witness on scene reported the Health & Human Services van was in the center lane preparing to turn left, when the ambulance passed it on the left side in oncoming traffic lane, which resulted in the van striking the ambulance sending both vehicles toward the pole.

No official report was available at the time of the accident.
