Robert Merkler

MerklerRobertMemorial Services for Robert Merkler, age 74, of Brownwood, formerly of Georgetown Delaware will be held at 7:00 p.m. December 6 , 2010 at the First Christian Church in Brownwood with  Pastor Sterling Lentz officiating, services and cremation held under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home. Mr. Merkler passed away Monday morning in Brownwood.

Robert James Merkler was born on December 7, 1935 in Staten Island, New York to Charles Merkler and Janet (Morrisey) Merkler.  He married Madelon Alys Coussirat on October 11, 1964 in Staten Island, New York. He had formerly lived in Lewes and Georgetown Delaware before moving to Texas to be close to family. Robert worked as an electrician and was a member of the American Veterans Post #28 in Delaware. He enjoyed cooking, bowling, and painting as well as square dancing and calling for the square dances.

Robert is survived by his wife Madelon Merkler of Brownwood; daughters, Karen Lynch and husband Frank of Brownwood, and Audrey Honegger and husband Carl of Stirling, New Jersey; grandchildren, Robert Lynch, Nicole Honegger, Jessica Lynch, Alex Honegger, and Katie Honegger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Lighthouse Hospice, 107 D South Park Drive Brownwood, TX 76801or the American Heart Association.
