Marvin D. Dickey, Jr., age 91, of Brownwood, left his earthly home for his heavenly home on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 8, 1929 the son of Marvin D. Dickey Sr. and Lena Mann Dickey.  He completed high school and entered a career in the U. S. Postal Service at the Brownwood Post Office where he worked for many years.

He was lovingly known as “Grandad” to his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who all share fond memories of him serving “coffee milk” and Mickey Mouse pancakes. He was a man who showed great kindness and generosity to others and never met a stranger.  He loved being on the farm working with horses and livestock. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Dickey of Brownwood, a sister, Dorothy Powell of Austin, six grandchildren, Kisty Fairchild of Little Elm, Texas, Cody Dickey of Seguin, Alicia Denson of Early, Barbara Baker of Nolan County, Jeromy Farmer of Brownwood, and Tayah Hurt of Whitney, a special cousin, Randal Dickey of Brownwood, numerous great-grandchildren and three  great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Dickey, two children, Joe Marvin Dickey and Helen Weathermon, a granddaughter, Joanna Temples, two sisters, Francis Dickey and Clara Bell Beeman, and a brother, Ira Lee Dickey.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, June 4, at Greenleaf Cemetery with Rev. Bill Slaymaker officiating.

Visitation will be held from 8 am until 1 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.  Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
