Brownwood News – Approximately 50 vehicles made their way from Brownwood Middle School to several area nursing facilities and living centers in Brownwood on Tuesday morning.  The purpose was to simply wave and bring joy to the residents and staff members and, in some cases, allow family members to see their loved ones from a distance for the first time since COVID-19 guidelines went into effect.

Helping organize the event was Butch Perkins, Activities Director at Oak Ridge Manor.  “Our residents have not been getting to see their families.  This is a way we can drive through each nursing home in our little village and have a chance for the families to wave and set eyes on their residents and to say hello.  This has been very hard on them,” Perkins said.

Members of the Heartland Cruisers and Street Dreams Car Clubs participated along with churches, home health businesses and many others.
