“Tooter” Delnor Ballard, 77 (Brownwood)

“Tooter” Delnor Ballard, 77, of Brownwood, passed away in Waco, Tuesday, March, 18, 2020.

A celebration of life service will be held in his honor.

“Tooter” was born November 23, 1942, in San Angelo, TX, to Eddie Adolph and Tinney Velma (Elliott) Ballard. He attended and graduated from Brownwood High School. Following graduation, “Tooter” enlisted in the United States Army, as a medical specialist, where he was also classified as a rifle marksmen. October 9, 1963, “Tooter” married Billie Coker. He was a local business owner selling automobiles at Ballard Auto Sales. Playing golf and taking care of his cows was a favorite pastime for him. He loved Listening to music, especially Elvis Presley and Dean Martin, filled much of his quite time, but playing around with his 4 grandchildren added to his excitement. “Tooter” loved to watch western movies and was even cast as a character in a book “Trails End” by Fredrick Bean, a coffee drinking friend. When he told a story, “Tooter” would get so excited telling it, that he would have to stop just to have a good laugh. He was a member of First Christian Church, a member of a coin collector club in Brownwood, and a collector of arrow heads.

“Tooter” is survived by his wife of 57 years, Billie Ballard; daughters, Laura Atchley and husband Monte of Brownwood, Jenny Pearcy and husband Lynn of Wichita Falls; son Jeff Ballard of Austin; grandson, Scott Pearcy of Austin, granddaughter Brianna Pearcy of Wichita Falls, grandson, Elen Atchley of Brownwood, and granddaughter, Sarah Atchley of Brownwood; and 4 brothers.Rudolph & Carrie Ballard of Brownwood, Henry Ballard of DFW, Carl Dee & Donna Ballard of San Angelo and Vernon &Melissa Ballard of Manor Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
