Corbin “Oakie” Wood, age 55, died February 29, 2020, in Rockwood.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Rockwood Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. David McClean, pastor of First Baptist Church in Santa Anna, officiating.  Family and friends of Oakie will meet at Stevens Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. to follow him to his final resting place at Rockwood Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

He was born Corbin Duawayne Wood on December 25, 1964 in Wichita, Kansas, a son of Clyde Earl Wood and Verla Olive Busby Wood Coultis.  He grew up in Wichita, Kansas and attended school there.  He lived in many different places in Kansas and Oklahoma before moving to Texas where he lived in Lubbock and San Angelo.  About 12 years ago, he moved to Coleman and had lived here since that time.  Oakie was a good and honest man and had many friends in this area.  He was the type of person who was willing to help anyone.  He did ranch work, hauled hay and was a general handyman.  He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by his father, Clyde Earl Wood of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Patricia Coultis of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Darrill Wood of Minnesota and Jeffery Coultis of Wichita, Kansas; his good friends, Nancy Helms and Edward “Cotton” Sultemeier of Rockwood and Herbie Strength of Coleman.

Please leave kind messages, condolences and memories of Oakie, at www.livingmemorials.com.
