Brownwood News –  Three people in San Saba were stabbed to death in the early morning hours of Friday, February 21 and a suspect is in custody.

According to reports, one of the victims was a 7th grader at San Saba Middle School, age 13.  The other two victims were a 62-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman.  A fourth person, an 18-year-old woman, was able to escape and summon police.  Her condition was unknown.  The incident happened at a home in the 700 block of South Bluffton Street in San Saba.

According to the DPS spokesman, a 911 call was received by the San Saba County Sheriff’s Office at 4:37 am by the 18-year-old female stabbing victim.

“The caller reported that a 22-year-old male suspect stabbed a total of four individuals at this location.  Responding officers arrived and located three confirmed deceased on the scene.  Local law enforcement located the suspect driving a victim’s vehicle in the area and made an attempt to stop that individual.  At that time, a pursuit ensued.  The pursuit continued northbound into the city of Goldthwaite.  At that time the suspect crashed and was taken into custody.  At the request of the San Saba Police Department, the Texas Rangers are assisting with the crime scene and crime investigation,” the DPS Spokesman said.

The Mills County Sheriff’s Department has identified the suspect as Anthony Wayne Pierce, 22. (shown in photo)   As of Friday afternoon he has been charged with Aggravated Assault to a Public Servant and Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle.

Law enforcement assured the community is safe and that the suspect in custody was acting alone.

A letter went out to parents at San Saba ISD to inform them of the situation.

The letter said that there were counselors and pastors available for anyone who needed counseling.
