Brownwood News – A Brown County 4-H member exhibited the Grand Champion Lamb Monday at the Fort Worth Stock Show.  If that isn’t enough, Brown County 4-H had three out of the five Breed Champions at the Fort Worth Market Lamb Show.

Madellyne Adams, a senior at Zephyr High School and a 10-year member of Brown County 4-H, showed a medium wool chosen as the Grand Champion Market Lamb in Fort Worth.  Back in the Fall, Madellyne also exhibited the Grand Champion Lamb at the State Fair of Texas.  Madellyne’s sister, Ashtyn, exhibited the Champion Dorper in Fort Worth.  Hayden Schroeder from Zephyr, who attends Early schools, exhibited the Champion Fine Wool Cross.  In addition, Madden Wise did an exceptional job in his classes.  “We did not have a lamb that placed outside the top 10 of the classes that they participated in,” said Nick Gonzales, County Extension Agent, 4-H Coordinator.

Winning three of the five Breed Champions is something you don’t see often at a major stock show.  “It’s a representation of the quality we have at the Brown County Youth Fair that we just finished.  This is something I can’t remember happening in any other county, having three of the five breed champions at one major stock show.  What a way to represent Brown County 4-H,” Gonzales said.
