Mildred Allie Bond

MildredBondFuneral services for Mildred Allie Bond, age 100, of Brookesmith, will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 1, 2010 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Wells officiating.  Music will be provided by Bill Fishback, James Ervin and Nancy Ervin. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.

Mildred Allie Bond joined the Lord in Heaven on Thursday, October 28, 2010.

Mildred was born on September 19, 1910, in Ozona, Texas to William Lively Miller and Callie Claire Dunlap Miller.  Mildred put her faith in Jesus when she was 9 years old and was baptized by evangelist E. J. Pond on Easter Sunday.  She graduated Valedictorian from the Ozona High School in 1928.  Mildred graduated from San Angelo State University in its second year as a Junior College. She also graduated from beauty school. Mildred married M.D. Crowder on October 3, 1930 in Ozona, Texas.  They had one son, Billy Morris Crowder.  M.D. Crowder passed away on February 29th, 1936.  Mildred married James Henry Bond on January 21, 1937, in Snyder, Texas.  They had two sons, James Howard Bond and Eddie Jack Bond.  She lived in Snyder, San Angelo and on the Lazy B Ranch at Winchell, Texas.

In her youth she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ozona and later, Park Heights Baptist MildredBondyoungChurch in San Angelo.  Mildred and Jack bought a ranch in Brown County on the Colorado River and moved their church memberships to Brookesmith Baptist Church.  She taught the adult women’s Sunday School class for 30 years.

Mildred is survived by her sons, Billy Morris Crowder and wife, Sharon of Brookesmith; James Howard Bond and wife, Margaret of Boerne; and Eddie Jack Bond and wife, Betty of Brookesmith.

Her grandchildren are Mark Crowder of Brownwood; Judy Crowder Parker of Lubbock; Deborah Crowder Russell of Allen; Robin Bond Ramsey of Boerne; Craig Bond of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee; Kristin Bond Bain of Brownwood and William Bond of San Angelo.  Mildred’s great-grandchildren are Callie Ramsey, Luke Ramsey, Seth Ramsey, Annie Ramsey, Brandon Crowder, Stephen Crowder, Sarah Crowder, Lindsey Parker, Lauren Parker, Travis Parker, Evan Barger, Will Russell, and Matt Russell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Bond; three sisters; Erma Vee Miller, Vivian Eunice Miller Akins and Dorothy May Miller Cates and one brother, William Morris Miller.

Mildred was a caring and generous person and she will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Salvation Army of Brownwood, 405 Lakeway, Brownwood TX 76801, Good Samaritan Ministries of Brownwood, PO Box 1136 Brownwood, TX 76804-1136, or to the American Heart Assn.
