Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2019 in Heartland Funeral Homes Chapel with interment in the Zephyr Cemetery officiated by Chaplain Leland Acker.

Gordon was born February 28, 1924 in Pecos, Reeves County, Texas to Gordon Sr. and Lillian Azalea (Garrett) Reiger.  Gordon moved with his parents to Grandfalls, Texas where he lived until he was 17.  Gordon joined the US Navy in 1942 and served until 1946.  Gordon’s family had moved to Zephyr in 1943 and Gordon came here to join them.  He married Martha Jo Stewart on December 7th, 1946 and began a life together that blessed them with five children.  Gordon and Martha bought a farm in Zephyr in 1951 and he started working for the Santa Fe Railroad which sent him all over Texas and Oklahoma operating a burro crane.  He retired from Santa Fe in 1984 when he was almost 61.  Over the years they raised chickens, turkeys, cattle, sheep, goats and he farmed.  They both lived on that same farm in Zephyr until their deaths.

Gordon is survived by daughter, Sharon Kaye and husband Johnny Powers of Salado; son, Johnny Dwain Reiger of Zephyr, David Trent Reiger of Zephyr; daughter-in-law, Joyce Reiger; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
