Brownwood Christmas Parade Tonight – Debbie Morelock Grand Marshal

Brownwood News – Organizers have announced that Debbie Morelock is the Grand Marshal for the 2019 Christmas Under the Stars Lighted Parade which will take place tonight (Thursday)  at 6:30 PM in Downtown Brownwood.

“We are excited to be able to honor Debbie Morelock as the Christmas Under the Stars Parade Grand Marshal,” said Sunni Modawell, Executive Director for the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce. “Debbie has played a big role in all of the events the Chamber puts on.  She especially loves to make the Christmas festival a wonderful experience for the children.  This is her last year to volunteer with us and deserves to be recognized.”

Debbie Morelock has a passion for helping people and being a community volunteer. Just a few of the many organizations that Debbie has served on are: Boy Scouts, Children’s Advocacy Center, Brownwood Civiv Improvement Foundation, Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Tourism Advisory Committee, First United Methodist Church Women’s Ministry, Operation Cookie Drop for Military, Christmas Under the Stars Festival, Corks & Caps, Trick or Treat Trail, and reading with children at East Elementary.

She and her husband, Don are the owners of Star of Texas Bed & Breakfast and Morelock Properties.

This year’s parade is sponsored by Texas Rock Crusher Railway.

The parade will feature floats, vehicles, walkers, horses, classic cars, marching bands and more.

The Christmas Under the Stars Lighted Parade will kick off a weekend of holiday events at the Depot Plaza including the 11th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival on Friday December, 6th and Saturday, December 7th.  The festival will include Santa Claus, “snow,” kids’ activities, an inflatable obstacle course, big wheel races and more.

Sponsors for the festival include United Supermarkets, McCoy’s, Weakley-Watson Hardware, Citizens National Bank, Brownwood Women’s Clinic, and Brookshires.  Big Wheel Races sponsored by Matthew Williams – State Farm, Sonic Drive-in, Little Dude Ranch, and Smile Doctors Braces.
