Don Hampton Davis, known as “Pop” to most and “Double D” to others, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at the age of 82.

Services for Don will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2019, at Crossroads Baptist Church (6400 Park Rd 15, Brownwood, Texas) with Edmund Wheelis officiating; burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Don was born on February 23, 1937, to John Jefferson Davis and Jimmie Estelle (Strahan) Davis in Archer City, Texas. He attended school in Lefors, where he enjoyed playing football. Don continued his education at West Texas State College in Canyon, Texas.

Don married Babs Wilson on September 11, 1957, in Pampa, Texas and were blessed with two children, Travis and Brad. Don and Babs were married for 62 years and enjoyed doing everything together.

Don enlisted in the National Guard in 1959, and was stationed in Fort Ord, CA. In 1961, they moved back to Hamlin, Texas where he began working for Conoco. They then moved to Midland in 1970 and remained there until 1993 when he retired after 33 years with the company. He then relocated to Brownwood, which he thought was heaven, and where he started Circle D Oil and Gas.

His favorite activities included fishing for white bass and hybrids only on Lake Brownwood, playing in the oil patch, and being with his grandchildren, Jeff and Blair, always there for all of their activities. Don loved to watch the hay fields being cut and baled, and the plowing and planting of other crops. He was also the supervisor of the farm equipment, making sure everything was greased and taken care of correctly.

Don was a religious and spiritual man of faith his entire life. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, Lake Brownwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jimmie Davis; and a grandson, Evan Caleb Davis.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Babs Davis; two sons, Travis Davis and wife Kathy, Brad Davis and wife Traci; grandson, Jeff Davis and wife Morgan; great-grandson, Layton all of Brownwood; Granddaughter, Blair Davis of Abilene; step-grandchildren, Corey Rogan, Nikki Tolbert and husband Chris of Houston; step-great-grandchildren, Charil, Adelynn, Scarlett, and Journey; and sister, Angie Horn of Oklahoma. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flower memorials can be made to Brown County Youth Fair (P.O. Box 1101, Brownwood, Texas 76804) in memory of Don. Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
