Roger Stanley Petty, 71, died Monday, August 26 at the Abilene Regional Hospital from complications of pneumonia. His body started shutting down and took a quick turn for the worse. Per his wishes, Roger will be cremated.

He was a good man with a good heart. He would help anyone out if they needed him. Roger was a jokester and always loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed seeing all the kids and grandkids when they came to visit. Telling stories about his time in Honduras was probably one of his favorite things to reminisce on. He loved to work in his workshop and enjoyed going to car shows. He served in the US Army as a Parachute rigger for 20 years. He will be missed by many.

Roger is survived by his children James Petty, Allen Petty, Melissa Jackson, Tonya Ng and Step Children Zeb Martin and Zetta Mae Stevenson; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his cousin Larry Petty along with 3 niece’s and several great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Priscilla Petty, his mother Ada (Mimi) Colburn Richardson and his stepfather Johnny (Sonny) Richardson; and sisters, Sandra Petty and Brenda Scruggs.

Memorial services will be held at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Sunday September 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
