Co. Commissioners Meet – Burn Ban Remains On / Flooring Bid Approved

Brownwood News – Brown County Commissioners met Monday morning.  Highlights from the meeting are as follows:

  • The Burn Ban remains ON in Brown County due to continued dry conditions.
  • Commissioners appointed Kandice Harris to the Brown County Child Welfare Board.  Kandice serves as Membership Director for the Early Chamber of Commerce.
  • Commissioners approved an amendment to the Brown County Historical Commission bylaws to allow the county be designated a Certified Local Government which will aid in applying for various grants.
  • Commissioners approved a bid from the lowest bidder, Custom Floors, for new flooring in portions of the courthouse.  The bid included laminate flooring in the District Clerk’s Office, carpet in Commissioner’s Courtroom, Auditor’s Office, County Judge’s Office and Deputy offices.  The low bid was $23,069 which includes take up, removal of existing carpet and moving furniture.  The bid was about $3,000 below the next bid and $4,500 below the highest bid.
  • Commissioners also voted to allow the Sheriff’s Department to list old surplus property for sale on govdeals.com.
  • Commissioners received an update on numerous FEMA projects underway in Brown County from David Creed, County Emergency Coordinator.  (shown in the photo)
