Funeral services for Roger Dale Smith, Sr., age 76, of Mullin, will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, June 29, 2019 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Zephyr Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Roger passed from this life on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 in an Abilene hospital.

Roger was born on April 16, 1943 in Eden, Texas. Roger was a simple man with a simple plan even in his relationships with friends and family. He is a man full of leadership skills and a man who is well thought off. His family was everything to him and it was why he worked all his life to provide for them and spent his children’s inheritance in agriculture and feeding animals.

Dogs are man’s best Friend and it most definitely is Roger’s best friends likewise theirs too! They knew when and where he was and came scavenging big Roger’s  garage, never to be turned away no matter how late it got!

He preceded in death by his dad C.A. Smith, the children’s mum, Janie Smith, his sister Karen Weiss and youngest brother Ronnie Smith.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Sharifah Smith, sons Dale and Terry Smith and Michael Martin, daughters Misty Fraley and Glenda Richardson,  Mother Faye Smith, Brother, Dennis And Wife Barbara, Prentice and Wife Judy, 9 grandchildren Ross, Lindsey, Tasha,  Tommy, A.J, Amanda,  Daryl, Timmy and Stetson. He also left behind 6 great grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.

Roger Smith will be greatly missed but his warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit for his family, friends and especially his animals will be remembered forever. He fought a hard fight after a series of illness.

Roger’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Abilene Regional Medical Center who provided such care for Roger.

With our love and deepest sympathy as we remember him and love for God Jehovah!

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
