Betty Jean Parker, 90

A going home celebration for Betty Jean Parker, age 90 of Early, will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 14 at Heartland Funeral Home of Early with Rev. Eddie Ailshie officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 on Friday, June 14 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Betty passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 8, 2019 at the Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Home.

Betty was born February 14, 1929 in Comanche, Texas, the daughter of Rudolphus and Nancy Davis Carter.

She married Jack Dwight Parker August 22, 1947. She was employed by Texas Telephone Company until its closing. She entered Garry’s Beauty College and received her license and owned and operated Fashion Beauty Salon for 8 years. She sold the business and moved to Brownwood with her husband in 1969 and was employed by General Telephone Company. She retired with 29 1/2 years of service in the telephone industry in 1987, serving about 10 years of that time in management as a supervisor in the Operator Services Dept.

She later joined Calvary Baptist Church with her husband and was active in church, teaching a Sunday school class, a member of the choir and serving on many committees. She later moved to Early with her husband and joining Early First Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday school and in the choir for a period of time.

She is survived by her daughter in law, Trish Parker of Odessa, and grandson, Michael Chad Parker and wife Jill and 3 great grandchildren, Jack Marshal Parker, Jordy Wayne Parker & Jolie Emma Parker of Kerrville as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her father, Rudolphus Carter, mother, Nancy Carter, brothers, Norris Carter & Harold Carter, husband, Jack Parker and son, Michael Dwight Parker

The family request memorials be made to First Baptist Church Early, Meals on Wheels, 103 Garmon Drive, Early Texas, 76802
