Law Enforcement Reports for the Brownwood Area

Brownwood News – Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s reports published Friday, May 3, 2019. All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Blotter information compiled from local law enforcement reports and jail records. If charges are dismissed or the accused is found not guilty, people listed here can contact Brownwood News and provide us with documentation. April 26th:

  • A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy performed a traffic stop on a multicolored Chevy pickup with information that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. The passenger, identified as Jarrod Mata, was arrested for a Class C warrant. During a consent search, a pistol and 0.2 grams of zolpidem tablets were found in the vehicle where MATA was seated. MATA was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon, Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence, and Possession Controlled Substance PG3.

April 27th:

  • A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to Brin Street for a possible assault with a knife. The deputy later observed a victim had a knot and blood on his head as he was in an altercation, but wasn’t cooperative as to the suspect. The victim later stated he was going to shoot himself with a BB gun.  MHMR Crisis Hot line was contacted and the suspect was transported to the Brownwood Hospital for evaluation.

April 29th:

  • Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 600 block of CC Woodson in reference to an intoxicated male walking in the roadway. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication.
  • Brownwood Police spoke with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding a hit and run incident.
  • Brownwood Police Officers were dispatched to 1400 block of Austin Avenue in reference to a male subject with a large knife breaking into vehicles. The suspect was located and was found to be in possession of marijuana, arrested, and was transported to the Brown Co Jail.
  • Brownwood Police were dispatched to the area of Austin Avenue and Norwood for a noise nuisance. The subject was eventually arrested after he failed to comply on several occasions.
  • Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Savoy Drive in reference to disorderly conduct. After Officers arrived and an investigation was conducted, one adult male was arrested for Public Intoxication.
  • Brownwood Police were dispatched to 1500 block of 2nd Street in reference to disorderly conduct. After Officers arrived an investigation was conducted and one subject was arrested for Injury to a Child with Intent to Cause Bodily Injury, a 3rd Degree Felony.

April 30th:

  • A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to Belfast Drive referencing abuse of 911 calls. The deputy made contact with the suspect, who was arrested for Silent or Abusive calls to 911 Service.

May 1st:

  • Brownwood Police responded to 315 E. Commerce in reference to a theft that had occurred. After speaking with parties involved a trespass was issued and report was generated.
  • Brownwood Police were dispatched to a South Brownwood Residence in regards to a Domestic Disturbance. During an investigation, officers found a male was Driving While Intoxicated. The individual was arrested.
