Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) arrested 33-year-old Jody Lee Kirklin of Early Thursday morning around 10:15am, charging him with Solicitation of a Minor under the age of 14.

Investigators learned of the arrangement between Kirklin and a 13-year-old girl which was to take place at Abilene’s Nelson Park.  The report stated that Kirklin had arranged the meeting through the Craigslist website.  According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s reports, Kirklin was found with a handgun in his vehicle and because the suspect was committing a criminal act at the time the gun was found, he is also charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

Kirklin is currently in the Taylor County Jail until a hearing is held to set bonds on both charges.  TCSO criminal investigators worked with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office to execute a search warrant at Kirklin’s home later Thursday, seizing computers as evidence in the Abilene case.
