Funeral services for W. C. “Son” Pinkston, 95, of Brownwood will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 2 pm at The Early Church with burial to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday evening at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Mr. Pinkston passed away Sunday, January 26, 2019.

Son was born December 7, 1923 in Pioneer, Texas to Willie Charles and Isola (Carey) Pinkston. He married Oleta Marie Dillard on February 27, 1943 in Pioneer and they soon made their way to Brownwood where they lived for over 45 years.  As a youngster, Son picked cotton and delivered gas. From 1950 to 1964, he owned and operated the Gulf Service Station which was located at the corner of Beaver Street and West Commerce.  In 1964, he bought the Four Winds Motel and ran it until 1968, when he opened Brownwood Automotive.  He bought the old Green Stamp Building on North Fisk and moved his business there and opened a location on Coggin Avenue.  In December 1976, Son sold the automotive business and became a real estate broker. He also partnered with his son, Donny at Pinkston Auto Sales until the time of his passing.  When he wasn’t working, Son loved to go fishing at Lake Brownwood.

Those left behind to cherish his children, Donny and Brenda Pinkston of Brownwood and Jimmy Pinkston of Brownwood; grandchildren Karen and Brian Bessent, Tim and Dena Pinkston, Cindy and James Routh, Scotty and Ashley Pinkston and Shane and Stephanie Pinkston; great grandchildren Ally Pinkston, Racey Pinkston, Nathan Pinkston, Treavor Besent, Zac Bessent, Luke Pinkston, Camren Routh, Carter Routh and Kyden Pinkston; sisters Ruby McBride and Betty Hall; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by her parents, wife Oleta and sisters Ruth Followwell and Wanda Followwell.
