cookoffawardThis year’s Brownwood Reunion BBQ Cook-off brought some great food and fun to the festival as participants served up some of their best cooking by entering beans, ribs, brisket, and chicken.

Dale Patterson of Pit Stop Bar-B-Q in Comanche took first place for chicken and brisket as well as overall grand champion.

The team Dos Amigos y Un Gringo took the top award in jackpot beans.  Team Lone Star secured first place in the ribs category.  The local bragging rights award went to Lucky Penny Cooking Team.

As an added attraction to this year’s event, the general public was able to eat samples of the BBQ during the cook-off called “Tips for a Taste”.  Those eating the BBQ could place tips in a bucket for the team with the food they liked the best.  Over $400 was raised during “Tips for a Taste” which will benefit the local Boys and Girls Club.
