Glenn M. Bailey

Funeral services for Glenn M. Bailey, age 96, of Abilene, formerly of May, will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Don Longoria.  Burial with military honors will follow at 2:30 in the Bullock Cemetery near Ranger.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Mr. Bailey passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 in Abilene.

Glenn Morris Bailey was born on April 5, 1922 in Ranger to Thomas R. and Mina Ann (James) Bailey.  He graduated from Sweetwater High School.  He joined the US Army Air Corps in 1940 and served in the European Theater with the 9th Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent.

Glenn married Robbie Lee Boling on August 8, 1941, in Sweetwater.  They later moved to Odessa where Glenn owned and operated Bailey Brothers Tire and B&B Jewelry for a number of years.  He was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) in Sweetwater, VFW Post 4372 in Odessa and American Legion Post #470 at North Lake Brownwood. In 1980, Robbie and Glenn moved to North Lake Brownwood where they became active members of the May First Baptist Church.

Glenn is survived by a daughter, Rhea Ann Hanneman and husband Michael of Abilene, a son, Gary Bailey and wife Cheri of Granbury; grandchildren, Erika Ann Carter and husband Jody and Jacquelyn Rhea Smith and husband Kenny, Becky Hanson and husband Mark, Rodney Bailey and Garrick Bailey and wife Bethany; great-grandchildren, Chelsey Ann Hoynacki, Bree Bailey Smith, Draken Colby Dale Burge, Zackery Evan Smith, Callie Rhea Ann Smith, Zachary Bradshaw, Angela and Kurt Johansen, Jacob and Heather Bradshaw, Candice Bailey, Lilly Bailey, and Eli Bailey; great-great-grandchildren, Liam Summer Hoynacki, Jacob Bradshaw, Jr., Oliver Johansen and Lincoln Johansen; nieces and nephews, Kaye Nimitz and husband Charles, Faye Wilson and husband Pat, Tommy Ray Wright and wife Cindy, Bob Bailey and wife Jenny, and Thomas Glenn Bailey and wife Beverly and a sister-in-law, Reba Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of sixty three years, Robbie Bailey in 2005 and two brothers, James Bailey and Tommy Bailey.
