Gayle Elizabeth Welch

A graveside service for Gayle Elizabeth Welch, age 83, of Brownwood, Texas will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Cedar Point Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at Heartland Funeral Home.  Mrs. Welch passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. 

Gayle Elizabeth was born in Brownwood on May 28, 1935 to Roger Robert and Vera Elizabeth (Kitchen) Nelson.  On April 4, 1951 she married Jerry Wayne Welch in Brownwood and he preceded her in death on December 18, 2010. A lifetime resident of this area Gayle was a retired cafeteria worker for the Brownwood Schools and attended the Heart of Texas Cowboy Church when her health permitted. She loved reading, gardening and could often be found on her riding mower. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.     

Survivors include her children Carla Ralston of Brownwood, Darlene Stewart and husband Jerry of Lake Brownwood, Danny Welch and wife Kathy of Winchell and Roger Welch of Brownwood; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother Roger Robert Nelson Jr. and her sister Alma Rose Duncan. 

Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
