Week 1 Harris Ratings: Brownwood Climbs To No. 1

shipleywithteamarticleAfter the opening week of high school football, area Big Country schools have managed to shake up the Top 25 Harris Ratings.

Leading the way are the Brownwood Lions who are coming off a 56-19 win over Gatesville which vaulted the Lions to the top spot in Class 3A.

Meanwhile the Wylie Bulldogs fell two spots to no. 14 while the Snyder Tigers jumped six spots to no. 24.

In Class 5A Abilene High falls two spots to no. 3 after kicking off the season as the top team in Texas despite beating Belton 37-26 in the Texas Football Classic.

As for the Cooper Cougars they leap four spots to no. 34.

In Class 2A Division I the Brady Bulldogs fall five spots to no. 14 while Colorado City and Early enter the top 25 at no. 23 and no. 24

In division II the Cisco Loboes also drop in the rankings to no. 11.

And in Class 1A the Goldthwaite Eagles drop out of the top spot to no. 2 while Albany slips one spot to no. 7, and the Stamford Bulldogs make the biggest splash of all area schools moving up 11 spots to no. 9.

In division II Hamlin jumps to no. 6, Munday falls two spots to no. 8, while Roscoe climbs two spots to no. 18.
