Ewell Allen Nelson

Ewell Allen Nelson, age 85, of Brownwood, died Monday, July 9, 2018.

Allen was born on March 20, 1933 in Dallas to Paul and Sophia (Edelen) Nelson.  Allen graduated from Brownwood High School in 1951 and attended Texas A&M University, receiving a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1958.  Between entering A&M and graduating, Allen served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Aviation Training Technician.  Allen was proud to have been a Marine.  After graduation, Allen worked for Mobil Oil.  He later went to work for IBM and retired as a Senior Account Representative.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jo Bucy Nelson; his sister, Sue Nelson Gibson of San Antonio; two sons, Richard Nelson and wife Susan of Spring and Joe Nelson and wife Valerie of Brownwood; a granddaughter, Sarah Nelson of Spring.  Additionally, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ann Willard and husband John of Brownwood, sister-in-law, Nan Nelson of Fort Worth and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Lee Nelson and a brother, Foster Nelson.

A private memorial service will be held later where his cremated remains will be scattered at the ranch that he so loved.

The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice as well as Brownwood Nursing and Rehab for the loving care they gave him during his last days.
