Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Thursday, August 19

*At 3:18pm, Brownwood Police received a report of forgery in the 1400 block of Coggin.

Sunday, August 22

*At 3:55am, Brownwood Police were called to the intersection of Magnolia and Elizabeth regarding a motor vehicle accident.  According to police, dispatch advised the responding officer that the driver of one of the cars had walked away from the scene.  The driver was located only a block from the accident and was transported back to the scene the report states. Guardian EMS checked the driver for injuries and then transported him to BRMC for further evaluation and treatment.  According to the report, two other vehicles were apparently struck by the driver’s van.  Due to possible injuries and the level of intoxication, the driver was left in the care of the ER staff the report states.

*At 9:08pm, a Brownwood Police officer met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center (BPD) regarding an assault with a deadly weapon.    The man stated that a known suspect had threatened him with a knife and cut his hand according to the report.  The officer did view a very small abrasion on the complainant’s right palm which did appear to be a recent injury the report states.

Monday, August 23

*At 8:51am, a Brownwood Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for disregarding a red light.  The driver, 40-year-old Sammy James Peel was arrested for Driving While License Invalid & Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

*At 11:15am, a Brownwood Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired inspection sticker.  The driver was identified as 54-year-old Vickie Lynn Boykin.   According to the report, dispatch advised that Boykin had 10 active license suspensions from Texas Department of Public Safety and subsequently she was arrested for Driving While License Invalid, previous conviction or suspension.

*At 11:23pm, Brownwood Police were dispatched to a local address in reference to an assault.  The complainant advised she had been struck in the head by an unknown male while taking the trash to the dumpster.  According to the report, the suspect never said anything while hitting her 2-3 times before she blacked out.   She was transported to BRMC emergency room.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
