According to a recent release from the department, Officer Smoot could reportedly smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the apartment upon arrival. The officer made contact with an occupant, identified as Ashley Pruitt in the report, who stated she smoked marijuana yesterday but there was nothing in the apartment at the time of the officer’s arrival. Pruitt did not provide any further information and denied permission to search.

Officer Smoot removed the other occupant and a child, then contacted Detective Brandon McMillian who responded. A search warrant was obtained from Judge Moss for the apartment. Officers then executed the search warrant at the apartment. Officers ask both adult occupants, identified in the report as Zachary Withrow and Ashley Pruitt, if there were drugs in the house. Both answered yes, they believed there was but they didn’t know where the drugs were located in the residence.

Officers searched the apartment and located marijuana as well as marijuana candy, including gummies, cookies and other paraphernalia. Both Zachary Withrow and Ashley Pruitt were arrested for possession of marijuana under 2 OZ in a drug free zone and possession of controlled substance PG 2 over 4 ounces in a drug free zone.
