According to the release from the Early Police Department, officers made contact with the complainants who stated a man identified as Gage James Woodcock was in their apartment and they wanted him to leave. Woodcock was refusing to leave the residence.

Officers spoke with Woodcock who then agreed to leave. The residents then pointed out that Woodcock left a backpack that he came with. Woodcock denied knowing anything about the bag. Officers then noticed a gun barrel sticking out of the bag and questioned Woodcock about the gun.

Woodcock still denied ownership of the bag, but witnesses all stated he came in with the bag and they did not want the gun in their house.

Officers checked the gun which was an M&P 22 caliber AR-15 style rifle with a bump-stock. Officers also found marijuana in the bag when checking the gun.

Officers check the gun through dispatch and discovered the gun to be stolen from Abilene. Gage James Woodcock, 20-years-old from Abilene, was arrested for Theft of a Firearm and Possession of Marijuana.

Detectives are currently working with Abilene Police Department on the follow-up investigation.
