AvantsFuneral services for Brett Lee Avants, age 37, of Houston, formerly of Brownwood, will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 13, 2009 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Chapel with Frank Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Valera Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:30 until 8:00. Our beloved son, Brett Lee, passed from this world on Tuesday September 9, 2009 after a short illness. Brett was dearly loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him. Brett touched many lives through his donation of time and talent to charity fundraisers in the Houston and outlying areas of Texas. Brett was born in Brownwood on February 11, 1972.

He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1990 and went on to graduate from Texas A& M University with a degree in international business in 1995. He was residing in Houston at the time of his death where he was employed by Mark III Systems.

Brett is survived by his father Larry Avants and wife Sandy of Brownwood, mother Janie Barnes and husband Jim of Midland, his brother, Bradley Avants of San Antonio, sisters, Amanda Shumate and husband Kevin of Brookesmith, Stephanie Barnes of Brownwood, niece, Madison Shumate and nephew, Maddox Shumate. He is also survived by dear friends, Gary Shannon of Dallas, Rocky Atwood of Houston and numerous other friends throughout the state.

 

Brett was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loyd and Mary Browning and J.T. and Lois Avants.
