Graveside services for Zanna Sue Holcomb Edgar, age 70, of Early, Texas will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. Richard Hetzel will officiate.  Zanna passed away Saturday March 17, at Oak Ridge Manor after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Zanna was born on October 1, 1947 in Brownwood, Texas to Vernon and Billie Boenicke Holcomb.  One of Zanna’s favorite stories is about her dad Vernon who owned the Harley Davidson dealership in Brownwood.  He took her mom, Billie, to the hospital to have Zanna on a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.     After attending all twelve years of school in Brownwood, Zana graduated from Brownwood High in 1966.  She then went on to graduate from Howard Payne College and began her long teaching career. Zana taught third grade at North, Northwest and Coggin Elementary for thirty two years.  She never lost interest in her students and would remember them into their adult lives.  On April 7, 1970, Zanna married Fred Edgar.  She was an outdoor person, loved working in her beautiful yard and was an avid historian.  She always enjoyed talking about family history.

Zanna is survived by her husband Fred Edgar; her mother Billie Holcomb; cousins Sherry Midkiff and  Brenda Scarbrough and by numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her daddy Vernon; her brother Zane; maternal grandparents Anton and Lee Boenicke and her paternal grandparents Birdie and Gaines Holcomb.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net

Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
