ArtAssociationLogoThe Brownwood Art Association is kicking off a new fundraising campaign called “Art in your Attic” to help raise money for building renovations and future projects.

Art Association President Kit Timmins says that for everyone who has some artwork tucked away at home, this is the perfect chance to share it with the world and help a good cause.

“This is the time to do something meaningful with those paintings, fine art photography, and sculptures tucked away at home,” Timmins said.  “Many people have art that they loved in the past, but have no place for it now.   Most are probably things that are too wonderful to put in a garage sale.”

The Art Association will collect artwork and use it in a future event to sell as a fundraiser.  Artwork will be accepted starting Saturday, August 7th from 10am-noon as well as August 10th, 11th, and 12th from 11am-1pm.    The association will also be happy to pick up the artwork.  Call 325-646-7032 to make arrangements.   The actual event date will be announced in the future.   All donations are tax deductible.

That Brownwood Art Association is housed in a building at the corner of Fisk and Lee Street in downtown Brownwood which was donated by Nancy Lee in 2006 in honor of her grandmother Pearl Stallings.

“This gave us a permanent home and the opportunity to develop a first-class facility for a gallery and demonstrations free to the public,” Timmins said.

During the last several years, the association has held many fundraisers to help upgrade many mechanical features of the building.  The next phase of renovations will be to update the appearance of the building.  New wood floors, raising the ceiling in the gallery room, upgrade walls to enhance showcased artwork, add gallery lighting, and adding signage are all on the plan for the next phase of renovations.

The Art Association hopes that their “Art in your Attic” fundraiser will help them get close to their renovation goals.
