Morphis001Graveside Services for Gussie “Wootsie” Mae Morphis, age 90, of Brownwood will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday August 1, 2010 at the Greenleaf Cemetery with Bill Wells officiating, interment to follow under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home.

Mrs. Morphis passed away Friday July 30, 2010 in Brownwood. Gussie was born March 5, 1920 in Brownwood, Tx to Augusta and Ethel (Hill) Westerman. She married Harold Morphis in Coleman County, Tx in 1940 and worked as a secretary for the City of Brownwood for several years. She eventually retired after moving to work with the Security and Exchange Commission. She previously attended Brownwood First Baptist Church while living here, and while living in Ft. Worth she was a member of the Travis First Baptist Church.

Gussie is survived by three nieces, Shirley Been and husband Arthur of Brookesmith, Tx, Blanche Springer of El Paso, and Jill Westerman of Brownwood; a nephew, Fred Westerman and wife Melba of Marble Falls; great nephews, Terry Been and wife Robin of Brookesmith, and Monty Been and wife Kelly of Granbury; along with numerous other great great nieces, nephews, and other family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold Morphis.
