Press Release – Cross Classical Academy students recently hosted a Poetry Chapel and Science Fair.  Students in grade levels Kindergarten through Seventh grade recited class poetry assignments. These pieces ranged from original works written by students to classics such as “Casey at the Bat” by Earnest Lawrence Thayer.

Students also hosted a science fair following the poetry presentations. Students in Kindergarten through grammar 2 represented elements from the periodic table presenting various facts about their elements. Student in grades 3 through 7 presented their own research and findings through individual presentations.

“These students worked hard researching their area of interest, implementing the scientific process and presented their materials in an outstanding way,” said Keith Taylor, science teacher for upper level students.

Students in grades 5-7 were judged on their presentations and winners were announced at a following school day. Winners included Jordon S. with her presentation on effects of mint on water temperature, Sarah Ash presenting how clouds make rain, and Jesslyn Till presenting her research on simulating a volcanic eruption.

Logic student Tyler Mitchell said, “I enjoyed our science research project, I choose to find out why Pop Rocks pop, playing with candy and learning science was fun.”

Judges from Kohler, Howard Payne University Science Department, and retired teachers scored the students on their efforts.
