Edna Mae Carey

Funeral services for Edna Mae Carey, 86, of Cross Plains will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Cross Plains Cemetery.  Mrs. Carey passed away Friday, September 22, 2017.

Edna Mae Stewart was born on April 18, 1931 in Lamesa, Texas (Dawson County) USA.  She married Cleve Waylen Carey on July 1, 1949.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Sue Carey, son, Rickey Cleve and wife, Sandra Carey, daughter Brenda Lou and husband Sherman (Pete) Traylor; grandchildren Jason and wife Melonie Carey, Roger and wife Wendy Carey, Dale and wife Kim Carey, D’Ann Carey and Robert Blake and Danna Carey; four great grandchildren, Ryan Carey, Andrew Carey, Kordell Carey and Kori Flores and five great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, V. L. Stewart and brother-in-law Wayne and wife Cathy Carey as well as several first cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Daniel Stewart, Sr. and wife Vercie Mae Smith Stewart, husband, Cleve Carey; brother, Jerry Daniel Stewart II and son, Larry Dale Carey.

Edna was known as a hard worker at various jobs including working at Hickman Nursing Homes and helping with the farming and ranching on the Carey Farm.  She was a Master Breeder and Master Exhibitor with the American Bantam Association.
