Candidate for Brownwood City Council Seat Ward 2 Eddie Watson (pictured) took the win in the runoff election on Saturday, June 12th.

Watson was facing local businessman Ed McMillian for the seat after the two were only 4 votes apart in the regular election in May.  The two defeated a third candidate, Richard Ashton, forcing this runoff election.

Voter turnout was low as expected in this runoff with 592 total ballots being cast out of the over 11,000 eligible voters.

Watson will be sworn into office on Tuesday at the Brownwood City Council meeting.

Eddie Watson — 369 votes — 62.54%
Ed McMillian — 221 votes  — 37.46%
