Art Association Press Release – This past Saturday, February 11, 2017, the Brownwood Art Association Photo Group provided a Free Portrait session to clients of the following community service organizations:  The Ark, The Salvation Army, Good Samaritan Weekend Meal Program, and the Woman’s Job Corp.

Craig Segar, Pat and Nelle Coursey, members of the BAAPG, organized and planned the project. They worked closely with Angela Bostic, Executive Director, of the Brown County Home Solutions office, to identify and select the Community Service Organizations that would like to give their clients an opportunity to have a  Portrait.  The free portrait service could be either for individual or family clients of these organizations.

The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit offered the depot ballroom to the Photo Group to hold the Free Portrait Project. Volunteers of the Photo Group transformed the ballroom into two separate portrait studios, complete with lighting and backdrops, and two printing stations.  In addition, the Ranger College School of Cosmetology and Mary Kay had representatives available for hair and makeup if needed.

According to event coordinators the event was “very successful, as all who participated expressed their joy and satisfaction with the outcome.”

As one client commented, “I’m so excited to be able to give my husband such a wonderful Valentine’s Gift.”

The BAAPG plans to continue and expand a similar portrait project in the near future.

The Brownwood Art Association Photo Group is open to anyone interested in photography. The group meets once a month at the Art Center at 215 Fisk Avenue in Brownwood. There is no need for equipment and no cost to join the group. For more information, visit: www.brownwoodart.com
