Around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8th, emergency dispatched received a call from a resident on 6th street in Brownwood.

The caller advised smoke was filling her bedroom. Operators advised the caller and any others inside to leave the home. The family stood across the street as rescue crews arrived.

Brownwood and Early Fire Departments are currently working to control the fire. The cause may have been electrical but it has not been confirmed. Atmos Energy was on scene to disconnect the utilities from the residence as emergency crews worked.
