Wiggins Pool will be opening this Saturday May 29th 2010. The pool hours are 1:00pm to 6:00pm Tuesday through Sunday with the pool closed on Monday’s. The pool is located at Wiggins Park at 1100 Victoria. There is no admission charge for Wiggins Pool.

The new Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center is still under construction, but if the weather cooperates, the facility should be open in less than a month.

“Construction is going well for the Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Facility and we anticipate the opening of that pool June 15th,” said Brownwood’s Parks and Recreation Director David Withers.

Upon opening,  fees for the new aquatic center will be close to the same prices as those of the old pool.   General admission will be $2 for 12 & under; $3 for 13 & over.  Season passes for 12 swims will be $20 for 12 & under and $30 for 13 & over.  Rental of the pavilion will be $35 for 2 hrs, which includes 3 tables and free admission for 1 chaperon.  Rental of pool after hours will be $250 (6:30-8:30 with a $100 deposit and $125/each extra hour with 8 lifeguards required).

Withers said that capacity of the new pool is 426 people and will require 8 life guards to be on duty.  Daylight hours for the new facility have not been set.  The old Camp Bowie pool will not be open.
