Myrna Steward Parrott, age 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 12, 2026.

Myrna Loy Kelley was born on March 7, 1939, in Coleman, Texas Elry L. Kelley and Amanda D. (Hudson) Kelley. She grew up in Coleman and attended Coleman schools. On April 13, 1956, she married James Steward of Rockwood. Together they had one daughter, Jamie. While living in Rockwood, Myrna commuted to Howard Payne University and earned her degree in elementary education.

In 1964, the family moved to Brady, Texas where Myrna began her teaching career. Four years later, they returned to Coleman, where she continued teaching at Coleman Elementary.

Myrna treasured becoming “Nana” to her two precious grandchildren. She loved keeping them, and together they shared many special family vacations and memories. She watched with great love and pride as they became loving parents themselves, making her Nana to her great-grandchildren. Myrna especially cherished her family Christmases together.

Myrna retired in 2002 after 38 years of teaching. In 2011, she married Tim Parrott of Coleman, and together they enjoyed retirement and spending time with their families.

Myrna is survived by her husband, Tim Parrott of Coleman; her daughter, Jamie Ray and husband Mike of Frisco; her grandson Casey Ray and wife Mandy of Brownwood; her granddaughter, Lauren LaVoy and husband Matt of Prosper; her great-granddaughter, Landry Kate Lee of Prosper; her great-grandsons, Parker Dorsett and Jake Dorsett of Waco; along with Matt’s children, Harper and Hudson, who became part of the extended family she loved.

She is also survived by Tim’s sons and their families, who became a cherished extension of Myrna’s family; Cody and Julie Parrott of Abilene, along with Karrigan and Jackson; and Trent and Anjolyn Parrott of Flower Mound, along with Garyn and Trey.

In keeping with Myrna’s wishes, funeral services were private for family only.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in memory of Myrna be made to the Bill Franklin Center, 13152 Texas Highway 206, Coleman, Texas 76834 or to the Coleman County Youth Activity Center, P.O. Box 766, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

We invite you to share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with the Parrott family by signing the guestbook on Myrna’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Parrott family.
