
Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday morning:
This month’s spotlight teacher is Glenda Uecker. Ms. Uecker is a Reading and English teacher for the Coggin 6th Grade campus. She holds both a Master of Education degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Tarleton State University. Ms. Uecker is a state-certified teacher (Legacy Master Reading EC-12, Classroom ESL EC-12, Elementary 1-8, Generic Special Education PK-12, and Reading Specialist PK-12). From early childhood teaching and diagnostician roles to middle school English and special education positions, this marks her 33rd year with Brownwood ISD.
Ms. Uecker is an outstanding 6th grade reading teacher. She always has a smile on her face and keeps everyone around her laughing and joyful. She has a remarkable ability to identify and meet the needs of struggling learners, providing targeted support that helps each student grow in confidence and skill. Ms. Uecker fosters a positive and collaborative environment, willingly sharing strategies and working alongside staff to ensure success. She is a strong advocate for all her students and works tirelessly to foster a genuine joy of reading in each of them.
Brownwood ISD is blessed to have dedicated teachers like Ms. Uecker who lead with compassion and have an undeniable commitment to excellence.
Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Kim Nolen. Ms. Nolen is a custodian at Brownwood High School (BHS). She holds an Associates degree in Computer Science, Databases, and Web Programming from Texas State Technical College as well as an Executive Secretary Diploma from Central Texas Commercial College. She proud graduate of BHS (1987) and has worked for Brownwood ISD for ten years in various roles that include teaching for Head Start, substitute teaching, and working as a special education aide.
Ms. Nolen is a fantastic custodian, and BHS staff report that she is among the best they’ve ever had. She comes in early and stays late to ensure that classrooms are clean and she is extremely attentive to details and continually radiates kindness and positivity. Ms. Nolen is a hard worker and takes great pride in making BHS look great. She always has a smile on her face and a kind word to share with students and staff. BHS is a better place because of all she does.
Brownwood ISD is thankful for staff members like Ms. Nolen who take pride in their work and go the extra mile to keep our campuses tidy, clean, and welcoming to all.
