KelcyBuenaFuneral services for Buena Kelcy, age 93, of Early will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Mrs. Kelcy passed away peacefully at her home on October 23, 2016 with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.

Buena Virginia Fowler was born on June 17, 1923 in Lometa to John and Ivy Fowler.  On October 17, 1949, she married W.O. Kelcy. He preceded in death in 2007.

Buena Virginia was a hard worker all her life.  There wasn’t any job too big or too small that she couldn’t do.  She loved to plow, plant, sew, quilt and bake.  She loved to read about history and archaeology and loved to work puzzles.  Buena loved horses and was a very skilled rider.  During World War II, she trained soldiers at Camp Bowie on riding.  She was also very dedicated to her mother.  She would ride from Lometa to Brownwood on her horse to get her mother’s medication.

Buena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, W.O. Kelcy, a grandson, William Kelcy and her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a son, Wyman Kelcy and wife Diana of Early; three grandchildren, Kassandra Capetillo and husband Eddie, Myranda Fowler and Carrie Burrows and husband Travis; eleven great-grandchildren, DeeAndra Fowler, Jeremiah Fowler, Jim Fowler, Zoe Fowler, Allysandra Capetillo, Elijah Capetillo, Mia Fletcher, Bridgett Montemayor, Tenlee Kelcy, Kaylee Kelcy and Bailee Kelcy and numerous nieces and nephews.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
