ABILENE – A pair of Brownwood Lions qualified for the Texas High School Powerlifters State Meet Friday, but only one competed.
Isaac Gonzales suffered a hamstring earlier this week in preparation for state and was not able to compete in the Class 4A 181-pound weight class Friday.
Meanwhile, Adolfo Torres placed 21st in the Class 4A boys 148=pound weight class with a total of 1,200 pounds lifted – personal bests of 460 in the deadlift and 315 in the bench press, along with 425 in the squat.
