JonesBettyOur dear, sweet wife, mother, grandmother, and friend Betty A. Jones of Brownwood passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at the age of 67.  Visitation will be Saturday, October 22nd from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood.

She was the only child of L.E. (Jiggs) Jones and Annie Viola Jones, both of whom preceded her in death.  Betty was born in Brownwood on January 24, 1949.  She is survived by her High School sweetheart and husband of 48 years, Jerry Jones.  Betty is also survived by children and spouses including: David and Larissa Jones of Ballinger, Kurt and Carrie Jones of Burnet, and Andrea and Matt Noe of Highland Village.  All three children and their spouses are graduates of Abilene Christian University.

Her beloved grandchildren include granddaughters Jordan and Mady and grandsons Trenton, Chance, Hayden, Grant, and Carson.

Betty graduated from Brownwood High School in 1967 and was a proud member of the Brownwood Lionettes Drill Team.  She attended Southwest Texas State (Now Texas State) for a year before moving to Abilene and completing a Secretarial Study at Draughan’s Business College.

Betty served the Brownwood area for many years as Owner/Operator of Brownwood Decorating Center.  Before her retirement in 2014, she worked at Home Depot in several departments before becoming the Front-End Supervisor for the last four or five years of her work career.

Betty was a faithful member of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ for 55 years, where she served as a teacher in the Children’s Ministry.  Her special interests included enjoying her family (especially the grandchildren), travel vacations with her husband and close friends, reading a good book, gardening and yard work.
