Brown County will take part in the Texas Division of Emergency Management’s Statewide Drill of Local Public Warning Systems on Thursday, April 2, 2026 between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM to ensure unified coordination.

This exercise is part of a statewide effort to strengthen emergency readiness and ensure that public warning tools function effectively when they’re needed most.

During the drill, Brown County will test:

• Brown County Alert, the county’s official emergency notification system

• IPAWS (Integrated Public Alert & Warning System), the federal platform used to deliver alerts to
cell phones

Residents may receive test messages or see/hear test alerts across various systems and by other local governments and the state. No action is required—this is only a drill. Drills like this help keep our community prepared and resilient.

Contact the Brown County Office of Emergency Management with questions or for more information at 325-643-2828 or cliff.karnes@browncountytx.gov.
